Keeping Fresh in a Weary Land

We have all been there, tired and exhausted from the chaos of our busy lives. It is not that what we are doing is bad; in fact, many of us are doing exactly what God has called us to do. The demands and responsibilities begin to weigh in on us, and we become weary from the load.

I found this out as I was thrust into being the principal of the Christian school of the church that I was pastoring. Sixteen hour plus days had become the norm, and there was a twenty seven day stretch that I worked those sixteen hour days without a day off. I found myself getting weary in well doing. My desire was to keep fresh even though the days were long, and the task ahead of me was great.

There have been many good men and women of God who have found themselves weary while doing what God wanted them to do. David wrote of it in the Psalms. Paul gave us all the admonition and included himself when he said in Galatians 6:9, “and let us not get weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.”

Although we become weary, we must not succumb to the weariness because it can cause us to stand still and not do what God wants us to do. It also can cause us to get stagnant in the work that He has called us to do. When we get weary, we need a refreshing from above. We need the comfort of the Holy Spirit to breathe fresh life into our minds and bodies.

My hope for this blog is that it will become a refreshing to your soul. I pray that when you read it you will be encouraged to keep on and be refreshed in your spirit. I hope that you will be encouraged to make a difference for the Lord right where you are. My plan is to post a new blog on Thursday of each week. As you read, please pray for me that I will be the encouragement to many as I hope to be to you. I look forward to posting my first words of encouragement next Thursday.
