" How wonderful it is when Christians live together in unity. "
I have been blessed to be the pastor of a wonderful church that loves one another and works together in unity. It is something wonderful to experience when there is peace and unity, because people are working together. When there has been discord, disagreement, and dissention, unity is especially a great thing to see. People working together, and not pulling apart from one another, is something beautiful to be a part of.
I believe that unity is something we should delight in. We should be people who want to dwell together in unity. In fact, we should do our best to dwell together in unity. Paul said it this way in Romans 12:18: "If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men." David wrote in Psalm 133:1, "Behold, how good and pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!"
Not only do I believe that unity is something we should delight in, but I also believe that discord has been sown by the devil to try to destroy the work of the Lord. The world has looked on and seen how the devil has used discord and dissention to make his ugly mark on the church. Paul Billeimer wrote these words about this very thing. He wrote : “The continuous and widespread fragmentation of the Church has been the scandal of the ages. It has been Satan’s master strategy. The sin of disunity probably has caused more souls to be lost than all others sins combined.” What an indictment of the church!
Jesus told us that we should be known for our love one for another. Our love and unity should cover us and permeate our lives like the fragrance of the costly, holy, anointing oil used on Aaron, described in Psalm 133. When we are working together in unity as a church family, it contributes greatly to the fruitfulness of our Church. So much can be accomplished as we work together in unity and harmony. I am so thankful to pastor a church that loves one another with the love of the Lord. Oh, How wonderful it is when Christians live and work together in unity.
