"Enjoy what God has given to you"

We have just moved into that season of the year we call autumn or fall. It can become a very hectic time of the year. I jokingly call October, “Oc-cember,” because it seems like October is running as fast as it can into December. I do like this time of the year though. I love seeing the autumn colors and smelling the fireplaces and campfires. The wonderful aroma of the food that is cooked during this season of the year is so inviting. People gatherings at church and in our homes are such a blessing as we thank the Lord for His goodness to us.
It is a wonderful time to take in life and experience all the goodness of the Lord that He has so graciously put all around us. Take the time to see it in the beautiful landscape that He has set ablaze with color and with the wonderful aroma of this autumn season. 1st Timothy 6:17c reminds us that “God… giveth us richly all things to enjoy”. Every wonderful thing has been given to us by God. James 1:17 tells us that “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above”. God is lavishly pouring out good things on us all the time, and He wants us to enjoy what He has given to us. Interestingly, the word for “richly” in 1st Timothy 6:17 means copiously, plentiful, lavish, abundant and generously. God has poured out richly so many good things upon us, and He wants us to enjoy all that He has sent our way to the fullest.
As we enter into this hectic season of the year, let’s not forget to enjoy all the wonderful things that God sends our way. Let’s have the right perspective on the things that God has given to us. Let’s not get trapped by things, but let’s do our best with all that we have. Let’s enjoy all that God has sent our way to enjoy.
